Ryan Evans began his formal dance training in his home state of Utah with the Pleasant Grove High School Ballroom Team under the direction of Elaine Grenko. Within two years, he had won the title of National Champion, Youth Division and was a driving force behind the team's state and national championship titles in Latin and Standard. After high school, Ryan moved to Chicago to attend Roosevelt University, where he majored in musical theater.
During his extensive, seven year amateur career he danced in numerous competitions including Emerald Ball, the United States Ballroom Championships, La Classique du Québec, the USA Dancesport Championships and the Blackpool Dance Festival. After turning professional, Ryan's competition roster has continued to grow including winning Rising Star Latin American Champion at the Wisconsin State Championships. He has coached with Jean Marc Généraux and France Mousseau, Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin, Gary and Diana McDonald, Rufus Dustin and Andre and Natalie Paramonov, among others and works regularly with Irina Shukhat and Donald Johnson. He has also studied jazz and tap at the Lou Conte Dance Studio.
In addition to competing professionally with his partner, Ryan now teaches and coaches in the Chicagoland area both through Ryan Evans Dancesport and Dance Center Chicago, where he is the principal instructor for the Latin dancesport classes. Recently he has taken students to a number of Pro/Am competitions including Chicago Crystal Ball, Wisconsin State Dancesport Championships, Windy City Dancesport Championships, Chicago Harvest Moon Ball Championship, Indiana Challenge and the United States Dancesport Championships.
